Rescuing Horses, Restoring Hope at Allemanskloof
Striving for a world where horses thrive in freedom and their invaluable role is celebrated.
About
Jacob Burger founded Allemanskloof in 2022. Jacob is a huge animal lover and avid horse enthusiast with a passion for animals in need, especially horses.
Our journey started with Neeva, a Hackney cross mare that was left next to the road, pregnant and injured, after she had been hit by a car. Neeva was picked up and nursed back to health.
About
Our journey started with Neeva, a Hackney cross mare that was left next to the road, pregnant and injured, after she had been hit by a car. Neeva was picked up and nursed back to health. She soon gave birth to the most beautiful filly that we have named Zoey. Both Neeva and Zoey are still at Allemanskloof. The extent of Neeva’s injuries makes it almost impossible to rehome her, as she needs regular chiropractic appointments and physiotherapy to be able to function and move pain free. Neeva will remain at Allemanskloof unless we can find her a very special home that can take on her care and maintenance plan. Since then we have taken in quite a number of other rescued horses. We aim to rehome where and when possible.
The aim of Allemanskloof sanctuary is to provide a soft landing space for abused, unwanted and homeless horses. All our horses are cared for, rehabilitated and where possible rehomed to suitable homes. Some of our rescue horses are sadly not suitable for re-homing due to injuries, age or behavioural issues and those horses are kept and maintained at Allemanskloof sanctuary to live out their natural lives in a healthy and caring environment. Allemanskloof is situated on Leeuwenkuil Wine farm where there is ample space for our horses to live stress free in a healthy herd setup with natural grazing. Our horses’ needs are paramount and they received the best care. Horses receive care according to their individual case requirements. This includes correct nutrition, medical and supportive care and rehabilitation work.

Knowledgeable volunteers are more than welcome to help us rehabilitate our horses. Volunteering includes brushing and walking the horses, but mostly they just need lots of love and attention to be able to trust humans again!
